Dom Cobb is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. 2. Humans tend to stay in the planes that coincide most with their dreams and wishes. That is why we have so many disillusioned patients  in mental hospitals that dun wanna come out of their trace and back to the reality. I find the part whereby the people sleep to be "awake" into their reality most disturbing. But who are we to judge? Anyone can stay at the place they are happiest in..... we have the choice and only we can make that choice.
